President
Daniel Fiorio
Daniel Fiorio, born in France in 1956 to Italian immigrant parents, is the epitome of a self-made man in the world of hairdressing. Growing up as the fifth of seven children in La Longueville, a small town in Northern France, Daniel was deeply influenced by his siblings, who shaped his future in hair and fashion. At a young age, in their family room at home, Daniel's sister Edda would cut fabric and sew beautiful clothes, while on evenings and weekends, his brother Maurice would cut hair, with Daniel often doing his homework nearby. From serving as an altar boy to participating in the village music band, photography club, gymnastics, and soccer, he embraced every opportunity for exploration and learning.

At the age of 17, Daniel embarked on a new chapter by immigrating to Canada in March 1974, sponsored by his brother Maurice. Despite arriving with limited English proficiency and without any friends in his new homeland, he wasted no time in pursuing his passion for hairdressing. Maurice not only sponsored Daniel but also took him to his interview at Bruce of Crescendo, a women's hair salon located in the bustling Yonge and Eglinton area of Toronto. Just a week after his arrival, Daniel began his apprenticeship at Bruce of Crescendo.

Under the guidance of his mentors at Bruce of Crescendo, Daniel honed his skills and developed a deep fascination for the artistry of hairdressing. After three years of dedicated apprenticeship, he took a bold step forward by partnering with his former mentors to establish the Hair One Group. In this new venture, Daniel continued to refine his craft, collaborating with modeling agencies, designers, photographers, and other industry professionals.

One pivotal moment in Daniel's career came when he spotted a young woman at a shopping mall. Inspired by her natural beauty, Daniel offered to cut and style her hair, do her makeup, and capture her essence through photography. The resulting images caught the attention of prestigious publications, including British Vogue, propelling Daniel into the spotlight alongside legendary figures like Vidal Sassoon and Alexandre de Paris.

Despite this early acclaim, Daniel's journey was far from over. Over the course of five decades in the industry, he remained dedicated to his craft, constantly evolving and innovating. He opened his first salon in Yorkville in 1981, cultivating a loyal clientele and staying connected to the world of fashion and media. His expertise earned him opportunities to style for renowned designers such as Oscar de la Renta, Giambattista Valli, and Marchesa, as well as to represent Canada on international stages and share his knowledge and expertise on the stages of leading haircare brands such as Schwarzkopf Professional and L'Oréal Professional.

Despite receiving early acclaim, Daniel's journey was far from over. Throughout his five decades in the industry, he remained dedicated to his craft, constantly evolving and innovating. This year marks his 50th anniversary in hairdressing, yet retirement is not on his agenda. Alongside his son Adrien and a team of talented hairstylists, he continues to push boundaries, inspire others, and leave a lasting legacy in the world of beauty and style. Their studio, located on Cumberland Street in the heart of Yorkville, Toronto, serves as a testament to their unwavering commitment to excellence.

Daniel has always been a philanthropist, and his charitable efforts tie in seamlessly with the creation of the non-profit Hairdressers for Love and Peace Foundation. Every year on his birthday, he donates all proceeds from his services to Sick Kids. He has consistently supported the Heart & Stroke Foundation, participated in the Angel Hair for Kids program from the "A Child’s Voice Foundation," supported the Parkinson’s Foundation, the Trenton Hospital, and, most recently, CAMH (The Center for Addiction and Mental Health). Through these efforts, Daniel continues to make a significant impact, showing how the hairdressing industry plays a vital role in the community and should be considered essential.
